Save Yourself Time and Money by Answering These Questions Before Hiring a Developer to Build Your Application

As a freelance developer for the past 15 years (Oh my, has it been that long?) I’ve found that clients often overlook, or are ill-prepared, to answer the questions below. If you take the time to find answers to these questions early in a project's lifecycle you can save a lot of time and money, perhaps the project itself.

An application is much more than code; it’s servers and app stores; it’s backups and customer support; domain names, databases, and a myriad other things.

You, the client, should have answers to the questions below that pertain to your project, but you may not want to share them with developers during an interview. If a developer doesn’t ask you some of these questions then it’s a clue they either don’t know what they’re doing or they plan on making these decisions for you. Either way, it’s a good indicator to keep looking.

App Flow

I can’t stress this enough. When you have an idea for your app you should take a notebook and start mapping how you expect the app to work.
